This October, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, nestled beside Victoria Harbour, was bustling with exhibitors and global buyers speaking a variety of accents, all engaged in intense business dialogues. As a pivotal event for the electronics industry, the 2024 Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and electronicAsia successfully concluded from October 13th to 16th, bringing together over 3,200 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions, showcasing the latest trends and innovations in global electronics.

A Grand Gathering of Global Electronics

This edition of the fair was unprecedentedly large. According to the organizers, the twin exhibitions attracted over 60,000 industry buyers from 136 countries and regions who visited for procurement and networking. Earlier, the Spring Electronics Fair and InnoTech Expo in April had already drawn approximately 88,000 buyers from 139 countries and regions, solidifying Hong Kong's status as a global electronics trade hub.

The linguistic diversity within the exhibition halls was a notable feature. At our booth and others, one could hear multiple languages including Korean, Japanese, English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. Simultaneous interpretation was almost a 'standard feature' for all exhibitors. This international atmosphere provided a rare and valuable opportunity for global market expansion.

Highlighted Products: Smart Technology Leading the Future

At this fair, our company showcased numerous innovative new technologies and popular flagship products, attracting enthusiastic visits from a large number of attendees and potential clients.

AI and Intelligent Devices emerged as one of the biggest highlights. Our AI PC series demonstrated excellent compatibility, supporting multiple CPU platforms and offering users diverse choices. These AI PCs integrate advanced AI technology, equipped with powerful AI computing capabilities to deliver a more intelligent and efficient user experience.

Concurrently, we exhibited our self-developed AI software tools. From text generation to image creation, voice control to retrieval-augmented generation, the rich array of AI functions seamlessly bridges creativity and work.

The Smart Mobility sector was also a major focus. The autonomous bus pilot project presented by the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), designed for operation on public roads, generated significant interest. This project fully integrates advanced technology and is scheduled for testing in Hong Kong's West Kowloon Cultural District in the fourth quarter of 2024.

The Digital Entertainment experience zone was a newly established area this year, featuring products utilizing VR and AR technologies. The "Meta-Hospital" simulation system developed by the Korean company NEWBASE, using AR and VR, allows medical students to gain experience comparable to hospital internships. Sharebox's XR solution innovatively created an immersive five-senses experience without the need for VR headsets.

Market Trends: Insights into Future Industry Directions

Through exchanges with numerous exhibitors and buyers, we observed several distinct trends shaping the electronics industry:

The integration of Artificial Intelligence with traditional hardware is accelerating. Over 70% of exhibiting companies showcased AI-related technologies or applications, confirming AI as the core driver of the industry's development.

Emerging markets are becoming a key battleground for companies. Many businesses expressed a goal, different from previous fairs, to expand into new markets beyond traditional ones in North America, Europe, Japan, and South Korea, such as Russia, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

Cross-border innovation is becoming a new model for industry growth. For instance, Xiyun Technology is focusing on the integration of AIGC and IoT private cloud for cross-border fusion and innovative upgrades in the consumer electronics sector. Mr. Panda Technology Ltd. is dedicated to creating a content ecosystem for China's cultural tourism sector using AI technology, developing an all-in-one Web3.0 platform for overseas tourists traveling and living in China.

Collaboration Outcomes: Building Bridges, Creating Opportunities

Our interactions with potential partners and clients during the fair were highly encouraging. Over the four short days, we engaged with hundreds of potential customers, many from countries and regions like Japan and ASEAN.

Some exhibitors secured around 50 serious leads, primarily from Europe and the US, covering products like TV components and smart storage boxes, amounting to orders worth approximately USD 200,000.

One buyer reportedly found four new suppliers at the fair, with anticipated procurement valued between USD 2 million and 4 million.

These results underscore the significant value of the Hong Kong Electronics Fair as a premier global sourcing platform for electronic products.
